The Land

Trailhead is a proud partner of the North Alabama Land Trust. From inception, Trailhead has been home to over 250 acres of pristine mountainside property with the goal to develop a live & play community, but while keeping the natural contours and beauty of the land on which it was built. One of the most unique aspects of Trailhead is the Legacy Loop hiking & mountain biking trail that treks up the mountainside, connecting travelers into Monte Sano State Park. Also on Legacy Loop, you will find a natural spring that was once used by early settlers of Chapman Mountain to preserve food, falls, rocky bluffs, wooden bridges and a connected Greenway at the base of the mountain that follows the same path pioneered by wagons of the settlers to make their trip home.

In May of 2023, the North Alabama Land Trust announce our donation of 144 acres of the Trailhead mountainside to be infinitely preserved and maintained so that all visitors could enjoy the land. This donated was a milestone for the Land Trust as they reached over 10,000 acres of conservated land in North Alabama.  “Conserving land in the core of our community, even as we are experiencing this surge in growth, exemplifies the values and belief our community has in saving our unique natural lands. Surpassing 10,000 acres of conserved land is an extraordinary community accomplishment and will serve as a catalyst for even greater conservation efforts” said Marie Bostick, Land Trust of North Alabama Executive Director.
